Principal's Message

 Principal's Message

Chance Whiteman, Ed.D. Candidate
Welcome to the 2016/2017 school year! My name is Chance Whiteman, the proud principal for the Sunnyslope School Eagles! This is my second year with Sunnyslope and I am excited to continue our journey toward academic success with the entire Sunnyslope community! This school year we will implement our PBIS citizenship program for all students. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. We believe this framework will help with our school mission of creating lifelong learners and building a successful future for all.

Sunnyslope School is also a Kids at Hope school. Simply stated, this means that adults on the Sunnyslope campus believe that all children are capable of success, no exceptions! In the Kids at Hope ideology, adults are Treasure Hunters, which look for, and find, the hidden treasures that are present in every child on our campus. This school year parents/guardians, families, and our community will learn more about the Kids at Hope philosophy during our Four Destination Days. We believe these days will help with the academic, social and emotional growth of all our students. More information will come home in August.

Finally, Meet the Teacher Night will take place on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00
p.m. At this time we welcome all students and parents to campus to locate your homerooms and meet our wonderful staff! The first day for students is Monday, August 8, 2016. We are excited to continue this journey with you and look forward to the upcoming school year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the front office at (602) 347-4300 or email me at Chance.Whiteman@wesdschools.org. Have a great rest of the summer and we will see you on Meet the Teacher Night!
