About Our School
All schools in the Washington Elementary School District are committed to achieving excellence for every child, every day, every opportunity. Sunnyslope School, in the Washington Elementary School District, serves over 800 prekindergarten through eighth grade children in the Sunnyslope and North Mountain neighborhoods. Sunnyslope affords students a rich curriculum aligned to Arizona College and Career Ready Standards. Sunnyslope School was built in 2008 and offers new, updated facilities, library, cafeteria, classrooms and gymnasium.
During the 2015-2016 school year, Sunnyslope will continue to embrace Character Counts, with a focus on the six pillars of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, citizenship and caring. Students and teachers will also focus on our EAGLES values of Effort, Attitude, Growth, Leadership, Excellence, and Success!
We are committed to our Continuous Improvement Plan, which focuses on instructional practices. Staff will be building our reading intervention plan and data discussions to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students everyday. Staff will also work together to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model. The structure of RTI will provide Sunnyslope students with added academic support. Teacher instructional strategies will continue to improve with a focus on increased student engagement and academic growth for all. Teachers will also continue working on math instructional strategies to build a strong understanding of math skills and understanding for all students.
